Pocket Entanglement
An AI-Made Game Experiment
Pocket Entanglement is an experiment for #KiwiJam26chch in making a game almost entirely through AI. It is less a finished game than an attempt to complete the whole production journey: from an initial idea, through design and programming, to testing, debugging, music, and release.
My role was closer to an AI’s sensor and coordinator than a traditional developer. I connected the different tools, played each build, reported what I saw and felt, suggested changes, and kept the project moving forward.
- Codex and Claude Code designed, programmed, and debugged the game using the Godot Engine.
- Suno generated the simple background music.
- All visuals are drawn procedurally in code—there are no conventional sprite assets.
- Even the debugging process was handled by AI; I mainly tested the results and provided feedback.
The gameplay is still very limited. The original idea was to create a short, slightly absurd comedy about ordinary pocket objects conspiring to turn a pair of earphones into an impossible knot. Many planned interactions, events, sounds, and jokes did not make it into this version, and some of the intended humor may not fully come through.
That incompleteness is part of the experiment. The goal was not to prove that AI can instantly make a polished game, but to find out whether a human—acting mainly as observer, editor, and guide—could use several AI tools to carry a small game through an entire production pipeline.
This build is the result of that experiment.
